SK First Aid FAQs
Find answers to common questions about our first aid training courses, certificates, venues, and booking options at SK First Aid.
What kinds of first-aid courses do you offer?
We offer a wide range of courses to suit individuals, families, schools, sports clubs and businesses. Our options include:
Workplace-based courses like First Aid at Work (FAW) and Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
Paediatric and family courses like the 12-hour Paediatric First Aid.
Specialist courses, e.g., Anaphylaxis First Aid, Basic Life Support, Sports First Aid.
Basic, blended or online courses for flexible learning.
Where and how are the courses delivered?
We’re based in Kettering, Northamptonshire and deliver courses in person in the local area, as well as in London and across the UK.
Courses can also be delivered online or as a blended format (i.e., part online, part in-venue).
Who are the courses for?
Anyone who wants to gain essential life-saving skills. That includes:
- individuals wanting to be equipped for emergencies,
- parents and carers,
- staff in schools and childcare,
- sports clubs,
- businesses looking to ensure their team is trained.
Are the courses accredited and recognised?
Yes. All of our first aid courses meet industry standards in the UK to ensure that your certificate is valid and recognised.
What’s the typical duration and what will I cover?
It depends on the course:
For example, the 12-hour Paediatric First Aid course includes six hours of online study plus six hours of face-to-face training.
Other courses vary in length depending on the level and content required.
In any course you’ll cover topics such as CPR, choking, unconscious casualties, burns, shock, anaphylaxis (for relevant courses), and more.
What is the certificate validity period?
For the Paediatric First Aid example, the certificate is valid for three years upon successful completion. We’ll supply details of validity for whichever course you choose.
What if we want training for our business or group?
We offer tailored first aid training delivered at your workplace or agreed venue, with content adapted to your needs and number of participants.
How many people are in a course
Most in-person courses accommodate around 6-12 delegates, which allows for good hands-on training and interaction. We also offer individual training options online and an opportunity to join one of our local open courses.
Is there any pre-work or online component?
Yes, for certain courses (such as blended ones) you’ll complete some online study prior to the practical session. For example, the 12-hour Paediatric course has an online part.
What should I bring? How should I prepare?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for practical training. If the course is held at a separate venue, you may want to bring lunch/snacks if it covers several hours. (Contact us for any specific instructions.)
Can I ask questions or get support after the course?
Yes, our trainers are friendly, experienced and happy to help clarify any points or provide further guidance after the course.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please get in touch as early as possible if you need to change your booking. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, subject to our booking terms.
How does this help my workplace meet legal requirements?
As explained by Health and Safety Executive (HSE), employers must ensure adequate first-aid provision in their workplace, and training is a key part of that provision.
Our courses help your business meet these obligations by supplying properly trained first-aiders with valid certification.
What if I have a question that’s not listed here?
